They say young love doesn't last, but a girl from the wrong side of the tracks with unique abilities and the hometown golden boy were determined to defy the odds. For Zack Covington, Anna-Grace—his "Gracie"—was the one. Until one night forever alters the course of their future, when a devastated Gracie disappears without a trace, leaving Zack to agonize over what happened to the girl he loved. As the years pass, his desperate efforts to find her uncovered nothing.

Now working for Devereaux Security, he stumbles across a painting featuring a special place only he and Gracie would know. The image is too perfectly rendered for it to be coincidence. His Gracie must be alive. When he finally tracks her down, he is shocked—and heart-broken—to discover the wounded shell of the girl he once knew and still loves. Her psychic gifts are gone, and worse, she believes he betrayed her all those years ago.

Books Not To Miss

  • All for You by Laura Florand (Book 1 in Paris Hearts Series, April 2015)
Laura Florand writes some of the most romantic contemporary romances on the market today. Most take place in Paris (or other locations in France) and feature chefs who create masterful chocolate concoctions. All for You was a bit different for me because the romance had a very sweet, first love feel to it. Celie is a Paris chocolatier, one who has made her own life after her brother’s friend Joss mysteriously disappeared one day, many years ago, to join the French Foreign Legion. He returns to Paris, having made something of himself in order to be worthy of Celie. However, Celie is not impressed. She loved Joss and wanted only to be with him. Joss has a hard time understanding this point and must transform himself to become the man that Celie needs. Celie is a strong and confident heroine who refuses to settle. It takes Joss several attempts to get it right, but he is adorable in his confusion. His love for Celie, however, is never in question. Unlike most books by Florand that I have read, All for You did not make me sob - it only made me tear up a bit. I recommend any and all books by Laura Florand; they are delightful, emotionally satisfying and deliciously heartfelt.

Review: Dead No More by L.R. Nicolello

DeadNoMoreDead No More by L.R. Nicolello (romantic suspense, HQN, January 2015, $3.89, 286pp)

The next person you trust…may be the last…

Lily Andrews was once the most sought-after undercover operative at Unit 67, a Black Ops agency buried deep within the U.S. Intelligence Community. But then her partner—and fiancé—turned rogue, leaving her for dead after a mission gone horribly wrong. Disgusted with 67's attempt to cover up Jackson's traitorous actions, Lily walked away from everything she knew and loved…and swore she'd hunt her ex down on her own and bring him to justice.

When the handsome, undeniably alpha Derek Moretti needs her help to pursue a ruthless sociopath who is putting advanced weaponry into the hands of terrorists, Lily sees her chance to return to 67 with her pride intact. She didn't realize how much she'd missed the adrenaline rush of being undercover—or maybe that's the heat that races through her whenever Derek is near. But soon Lily will have to choose between the vengeance she craves and the country she's sworn to protect. And with the clock ticking down on a nuclear catastrophe, she knows that this time, if she's trusted the wrong man, she won't live to regret it…

runninghot 250Two of HelenKay Dimon’s recent releases, Too Far Gone (contemporary, Berkley, December, 2014, $4.27, 249pp) and Running Hot (romantic suspense, Avon, December 2014, $1.99e, 22pp) are fantastic romances that have something in common - very strong relationships between male characters of the series. Ones that are actually rather funny.

Too Far Gone is the final book in Dimon’s Hanover Brothers series - a series about brothers who have to deal with the fallout of their con man father’s long years of fraud. In the first three books, the three Hanover brothers inherit a home in Sweet Water, Oregon and attempt to make a life there. Unfortunately, the people of the town are not thrilled to have Charlie Hanover’s sons around. The appearance of Walker Reeves, an FBI agent, is an added insult especially when it is revealed that he is actually another of Charlie’s children.
