Jennifer HallockToday, Jennifer interviews Jennifer Hallock, an author who writes historical romances set in the Philippines during time of American colonization. There are currently three books in the series: Hotel Oriente, Under the Sugar Sun and Tempting Hymn. She spends her days teaching history and her nights writing historical happily-ever-afters. She has lived and worked in the Philippines, but she currently writes at her little brick house on a New England homestead—kept company by her husband, a growing flock of chickens, and a geriatric border collie mutt.

Can you tell us a bit about your Sugar Sun series?

The Sugar Sun series of sensual romances are set in the American colonial Philippines. Starting in the cosmopolitan hub of Manila and traveling south to a struggling sugar estate, this series tests the bonds of love, family, and country in the midst of revolution and war.

Laura Florand - Author PhotoToday, Laura Florand stops by to answer a few questions about her most recent release, The Chocolate Heart, an angsty yet wonderful touching romance set in Paris. The Chocolate is an RNN Recommended Read – and one of our picks for best contemporary romance of 2013. If you haven’t read this book (or if you haven’t read Laura Florand), we recommend you do so NOW!

1. Chocolate and Paris tickle so many women's romance sensors, and you manage to combine both in your current series. Why chocolate and why Paris?

I lived in Paris and met my own husband there, and I honestly did not always find that city easy. But it’s so vivid, so full of romance, and it’s layered with centuries and centuries of romantic power over people’s imaginations. It’s a symbol of going for that one big dream – you have to see Paris. There’s no other city quite like it. And the fact that it’s both hugely romantic and real, that you have to face the reality of your dream once you go to it, makes it all the more compelling for story, I think.

Guest Author Interview: Tawny Weber

Fearless CoverRNN welcomes author Tawny Weber whose “Fearless” was recently released as part of the new Cosmo Red Hot Reads series.

1. Your recent release "Fearless" releases on September 15th and is part of the new Cosmo Hot Reads series. Can you tell us a bit about "Fearless"?

I hope readers enjoy FEARLESS. I had a great time writing it, and taking a very modern, Cosmo-esque spin on the classic Cinderella story. Gia, the heroine, is crazy about a guy she works with. Not only is he way out of her league, there are fraternization rules at work. So her friends use the Girlz Guide to figure out how to make her fantasy come true. This includes a total makeover, a trip to Las Vegas and, since it wouldn’t be a Cinderella story without them, a pair of very gorgeous shoes.

Heart of ObsidianNalini Singh's Heart of Obsidian (out on June 4th) is one of the most highly anticipated releases on 2013 and is sure to turn the Psy/Changeling world on its ear. Find out what Nalini Singh has to say about this book, the series and her upcoming Guild Hunter book.

  1. Heart of Obsidian (out June 4th) is the 12th book of your wildly popular Psy/Changeling series. Have you been surprised by the series’ success?

Yes, happily so! As a writer, I felt in my gut that Slave to Sensation (book 1) was the start of something special, but I had no way of knowing if readers would feel the same. I’m so grateful to every reader who’s come along with me on this ride, and I hope they continue to do so as the series goes forward.

Author Interview: Susan Mac Nicol

Together in Starlight COVERRNN has author Susan Mac Nicol stopping by today to talk about her books, particulary, “Together in Strarlight” which came on out February 20th.

Q: You have a book coming out shortly, "Together in Starlight." Can you tell us a bit about the book and its Starlight series?

A: Of course. The Starlight series, of which the first book is “Cassandra by Starlight” was inspired by a true event in my home county of Essex. A woman was driving down the motorway when someone lobbed a huge concrete block on top of her car. She was badly injured and ended up in hospital. My imagination ran riot and when I read the story, I thought, what if that had been a person jumping on her car to his death? What if that person had a famous older brother who felt honour bound to visit the injured woman in hospital and offer her his apologies for her injuries? And of course, what if there were sparks and the couple ended up being attracted to each other. So Bennett Saville, handsome, sexy and rich man about town up and coming actor and Cassandra Wallace, who is ten years older than him and a professional business woman, made their debut. Once I started telling their story, I couldn't stop. Finally I had three books, a very happy ending and a story in between that included psychopathic stalkers, a disturbed family member, lots of steamy sex, a fairly violent incident as a result of the stalking and a relationship developing under the rather heady glow of the Hollywood spotlights - the Starlight as I called it.

Author Interview: Thea Harrison

lords_fall-186x300Romance Novel News is excited to host an interview with author Thea Harrison whose latest book, “Lord’s Fall” is out today. We highly recommend all of the books in the Elder Races series. Want to win a copy of a Thea Harrison book? Read on to find out how . . .

Thanks for having me on your blog today! I’m excited to be here with you.

Q: Your latest books are set in the world of the Elder Races, a complex and well-crafted paranormal world that rivals Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunters world. What inspired you to create this intriguing and vibrant world?

A: I’ve had so much inspiration from so many different places, that I’m afraid I can’t give just one answer.  Nalini Singh’s rich worldbuilding was certainly part of that inspiration, but many other authors were too, from Patricia McKillip to J R Ward, to C J Cherryh.  I read extensively in different genres, so I think I’ve been influenced by a lot of authors.

Author Interview: Elisabeth Naughton

Elisabeth_NaughtonToday, RNN features an interview and giveaway with author Elisabeth Naughton, whose book “Enslaved” releases on November 6th. This series is one of Jennifer’s favorites in the paranormal romance genre. At the end, find out how to win a copy of “Enslaved” from Naughton’s publisher, Sourcebooks.

Q. “Enslaved” is the 5th book in your Eternal Guardians series. Can you tell us a bit about this book?
A from EN:
The Eternal Guardians are seven warriors descended from the seven greatest heroes in Greek Mythology. They protect their own realm (Argolea) and the human realm from threats born of the Underworld, in particular one evil goddess with a serious vendetta against the guardians. Each book centers around a different guardian, with an over-arching plot of good vs. evil tying the series together.

Book five is Gryphon’s book. He’s my lost Argonaut. His soul was sent to the Underworld to be tortured in book 3 (“TEMPTED”) and he was rescued in book 4 (“ENRAPTURED”), but he came back a changed hero. Gryphon was always the easy-going, fun guardian. Now he hears voices, he twitches, and he fights an evil foreboding that haunts his every move. His story is really about finding himself again, and the one woman who has the power to rescue him from himself.
