Review:
Jill Shalvis’ Lucky Harbor books are some of my favorite contemporary romances. They have a wonderful mix of romance, heat and fun. They are truly feel-good stories that never fail to put a smile on my face. “Under the Mistletoe,” a holiday novella, fits right in with a charming and festive romance that will fill readers with good cheer.
Mia is the daughter that Ford and Tara (from an earlier book in the series) gave up for adoption when they were young. Mia doesn’t live in Lucky Harbor, but does come to visit her family. This Christmas, Mia is traveling to visit her birth parents and wants to bring her boyfriend Nick. However, Nick doesn’t react well to Mia’s plans. Mia ends their relationship and takes her broken heart to Lucky Harbor.
With some time to process, Nick realizes that he may have lost Mia for good. He realizes that he must deal with his fear of commitment and go after the woman he loves. He surprises Mia when he shows up the bed and breakfast that her family owns. He has much to make up for given that Mia’s family isn’t happy with him for hurting her.
“Under the Mistletoe” is a sweet, sexy and quick read. All of it characters feel like family. Fans of the series should not miss it. There is something incredibly special about love conquering all for the holidays.
