Ryan Tomasi feels like a failure. His marriage is officially over; the ink dried on the divorce decree. His friend Jack introduces him to BDSM and he agrees to attend a Halloween party at a club. A submissive approaches him, offering herself, and how can he refuse the kneeling beauty? They do a whirlwind scene and Ryan is addicted--both to dominance and to her.

Lisette Rinaldo is returning to the BDSM club for the first time since ending a bad relationship with her former master. She spots Ryan and is taken by the combination of self-assurance and nervousness the man displays as he takes in his surroundings. And after he gives her an incredible re-introduction to the lifestyle, she knows she needs to see the man again.

Ryan and Lisette explore each other and the lifestyle, but what started out as playtime quickly evolves into something more. The problem? Ryan isn't ready to get serious again and Lisette doesn't want to fall in love with a guy who can't give all of himself to her. Both of them are going to have to break out of the bonds holding them back from happiness to pass this Master Class.

In BDSM erotic romances, the Doms are often monolithic characters who are difficult to get to know. This is a function of the fact that they need to be confident and in charge. In “Master Class,” Cassandra Carr features a new Dom who is just learning about the lifestyle. I admit that this is one of the main reasons that I wanted to read this story. And Carr hit all the right notes, creating a hero who stole my heart with his vulnerability and his growing confidence.

Ryan attends a Halloween party and meets Lisette, an experienced submissive. The two hit it off immediately and find a deep attraction. Their kinky desires mesh well. Lisette is almost the perfect submissive for Ryan to work with to try out various things. The two learn quickly that they would like to take their relationship beyond playing.

One of my favorite parts of this book is the interaction between Lisette and Ryan while they are not playing. Ryan is definitely new to the lifestyle. He is keen to experience all that BDSM has to offer, but also cautious. He, therefore, spends a great deal of time talking to Lisette about their various desires and about what they might like to try.

“Master Class” is a wickedly erotic romance with a Dom who will steal readers’ hearts as he discovers his own sexuality.
